Giving Programs - Wyandotte Catholic Consolidated Schools

Wyandotte Catholic Consolidated School , Wyandotte, Michigan , was proud to be awarded a "Champion of the Cause" Award from Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency on Friday, January 23, 2009 as a result of the schools effort to collect new and used coats for childrens and adults. Over 300 coats were collected to assist in the Project Homeless Connect event organized by Wayne Metro CAA in October of 2008. Jane Scarlett, Homeless Programs Director for Wayne Metro CAA presented the award to principal Dave McCarney during church services and thanked the school aged children, grades K-8 and their families for their outstanding efforts which continue to benefit those in need.

Outreach programs are a monthly project for students of Wyandotte Catholic in a unique "Make a Difference" program which strives to assist various charities and individuals each month. Benefactors of these charitable efforts over the last decade have included but are not limited to Children's Hospital, Leader Dogs for the Blind, women's shelters, local families in need and food pantries. PTSO co-president Judy Izzo states that the school and children are honored to be included in outreach efforts such as those of Wayne Metro and will continue to do as much as they can to assist others.
